Swirling Sky, created from a sculpture by Kathleen Moody, was the third Connoisseur for 2011 and was featured in the Summer 2011 issue of Just About Horses magazine as part of the Great Artist Series. Inspired by the great Dutch post -Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh . Breyer interpreted Van Gogh's heavey brush strokes and thick application of paint to create a horse that captures the swirling dark blue skies punchuated by the yellow golden moon of some of Van Gogh's most popular paintings.
