Originating in the Lanarkshire district (previously Clydesdale) of Scotland, the Clydesdale is a heavy draft horse bred for farming and coal mining. Though it still serves an important role on farms in some areas of Europe, this gentle giant is most recognizable today as a show and parade horse. Breyer's 2008 beautiful breeds ornament is an authentic replica of a Clydesdale horse cast in fine bisque porcelain and hand-painted as a bay with red and green ribbons in its mane and tail.
