The natural range of this spectacular endangered species is the Rocky Mountains where they can depend on the rocky terrain for protection and escape from predators. Primarily a grazing animal, bighorn sheep can live up to 10-15 years generally in herds. Their size can range from 115-280 lbs. and their height can range from 32”-40” at the shoulder. They have a complex digestive system that allows them to them to thrive on surprisingly little water and the meager grasses of their rocky environment. Males have beautiful horns and horn size determines rank in the herd.
