Horses with color were not always acceptable. Rejected by the American Quarter Horse Association due to their unique markings, these patterned horses had no official recognition in the horse world until the early 1960s. Then, group of horse lovers created a registry for the breed now known as the American Paint Horse. Registered Paint Horses are of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse breeding. They are seen in all aspects of english and western riding competition and also make wonderful pleasure horses. The Paint is known as a flashy breed due to its unique coloring. This buckskin tobiano Paint is a version of the San Domingo mold, which is very popular among collectors.
